The iPad case is a tighter fit, and has a cutout in the back for the apple logo - this mini does not. I feel like these edges peel away a bit too easy just by gripping it. I got the pink in the iPad case for my daughter, and black for me...of course, I did buy my big case a couple of years ago so maybe materials changed since then.Regardless, this is a legit rubber case - my iPad has been tested out with falls and even tantrum throw-downs from shopping cart height without a scratch. I think this one will hold up as well, I just wish it had a tighter fit in the back and a cutout for the logo, it's much nicer looking that way, less floppy when I tap on the back of the iPad.The good thing is that the cutouts are all perfect for the buttons, with a rubber covered power and volume button. It is easy to put on and kid proof. I ordered this for the tablet my kids use and it was well worth the money. It is easy for them to hold- less likely to slip out of their hands. It's a fun color- they refer to it as the purple tablet. It has also prevented a few cracked screens when it has been dropped.I liked the case so much, I bought a second one for my own tablet and use even though the kids don't use it. I consider it an investment since I have dropped my own. At least in our house! My children have repeated borrowed my iPad and "accidentally" dropped it, smashing the screen. This case will protect the screen from cracking on impact; however it will not keep it safe from objects being dropped on it. You do need to have a separate screen protector. So far, it has performed exceptionally well, and I plan to purchase more if we add more devices to our collection.Update May 2016: still very happy with this case, this iPad mini has been dropped so many times, and the device has never been damaged. Worth every penny! My only concern is what to do with it when the iPad mini is long outdated and obsolete.
