I have weighed him right before going to the vet and the weight was exact. I'm very pleased with this scale. **Q: Is this truly made by W.C. Redmon and not a knock off?** A: It says REDMON Precision Scale on the front and W.C. Redmon on the bottom. It is made in China though. **Q: What do I do if the scale is off?** A: I'm going to assume that you're referring to the accuracy of the scale, and if that's the case, make sure the batteries are fresh (you might want to re-seat them, just in case) and that you have it on a solid, smooth surface and that it is level and that there's no grime or anything like that on the feet. Also, make sure that the "unit" settings are as you want, grams vs ounces. I use a 10 lb dumbbell to test mine out, and it registers at 9 lb 15.5 ounces, which is close enough for me. He is on a diet and I don't want him to lose too fast and have liver problems. Tested the scale with a bag of sugar and it weighed true. I thought I would have a hard time getting him on the scale but it is very low to the ground and he just walked right up on it and laid down. Cats are funny that way. We have another weight check in 2 days. I hope that being able to monitor his weight on a regular basis will help me with adjusting his meal portions.
