It is made out of powder coated steel, and the seat material is sturdy and attractive. Unfortunately there was an issue with one of the stools I purchased, and after contacting the company I received immediate friendly responses and solutions. Nathan James ended up flat out replacing the stool. No hassles, no hoops to jump through. Occasionally problems happen. As a long-time business owner, I know this. but I am also used to crappy service. Not only are the products I have purchased from NJ top notch, but they are backed by friendly people who want you to be happy with your purchase. Keep in mind that I did not get any discounts for writing this; I did not get any free merchandise. I am not associated with NJ. In fact, I really have no idea who they are other than that I bought a few stools and table off of Amazon that seem to be made by them. But I *do* know quality service.
