There is no place on my truck dash that is smooth enough for the suction required, so I had to mount it to the inside of the rear window, facing the camera towards the front. This works ok, but it was difficult to find just the right place where the rear view mirror wasn't in the middle of the view. I was not able to mount it to the inside of the windshield, because the arm is too short for my Drift Innovation Camcorder, which is a long one. It should be fine for a smaller/shorter camera like a compact digital camera using video mode. I wish the arm was about an inch longer and I wouldn't have had any problems.On my motorcycle, I had no problems mounting it in multiple places due to the smoothness of the gas tank, body work, etc., but once again, another inch of length on the arm would have allowed me to mount it on top of my gas tank looking through my bolt-on windscreen. As is, it was too short for that. All in all it is well built and easy to adjust. ### ⭐⭐⭐ About what You'd expect for the Price. *by B***S on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on September 7, 2013* Pro: Suction cup grips window very well, in fact I don't recommend trying it on the dash unless it is solid plastic because it could damage a vinyl covered dash trying to remove it.Cons:On a very hot day the air in the suction cup can expand enough to cause it to release it's hold. This happened only once in Mid July while I was shopping and the camera wasn't attached at the time so I don't think it would happen while driving. The small knurled wheel and rubber washer which hold the camera steady comes loose and the camera swivels very easily. It is very hard to tighten it sufficiently to prevent movement once the camera is attached. My Camera ,a Canon SX 500, is very light and I wouldn't recommend trying to use this with a camera that weighs more than 2 lbs. The Camera must be mounted upside down on standard windshield. I had hoped it would allow the camera to stay upright. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works great for smaller camcorders *by F***K on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on March 29, 2013* This mount is well worth the price. Very well built and sturdy, it is great for light-weight cameras and camcorders. But before you purchase consider the following:1. Lock your camera down and don't try to use it as a pan head on a tripod. It will loosen up and you will be pointing at the ground, having to readjust and tighten the two locking nuts. If you are driving at the time -- not good.2. If you intend to mount the camera to your dash and your dash is covered with a thin textured plastic, you will have to use a glue-down disk so the suction cup will stick and hold. If the dash material is thin, the camera will wobble and vibrate.3. If you intend to mount from your windshield, check your clearances. You may have to mount the camera upside-down.
