God Is An Automaton

I don't normally write reviews for music because what makes good or bad music is so much about personal taste and opinion, but Amazon keeps asking me to write one about this album, so here we go...Let's start with this--I'm a huge Sybreed fan and I wish more people knew about them.This is Sybreed's fourth and final album and, like their previous releases, it is fantastic. If I had to pick 3 favorites off this album, I'd probably go with1) Into the Blackest Light2) Hightech vs. Lowlife3) No Wisdom Brings Solacebut it's hard to choose as the whole thing is a fun ride.After getting "Slave Design", "Antares", "The Pulse of Awakening" and this album, you may find yourself wanting more. I know I'm excited to see what Drop, Kevin and Ales do next (we'll miss you, Ben!). If you fall into this category and don't already know, before Sybreed the guys were in a band called "Rain". Good luck finding any of their stuff to buy, but if you search video sites, you can still hear some of their stuff (I recommend "Deleted Memories").

An excellent follow-up to The Pulse of Awakening, and probably their best album since Slave Design. Has both the brutal death-metal and industrial elements and the electronica ornamentation that is the band's signature, as well as their colorful, almost New-Wave style vocals. I don't quite like this album's version of Challenger as much as the EP version, but its re-tooling does make it fit the color of the album better. In sum, a must-buy. Now, when will Sybreed finally do a US tour?

Compared to Slave Design, Antares, and Pulse of the Awakening this album is not very good (in my opinion) and is by far Sybreed's only hiccup. Personally I only like PostHuman Manifesto, and of course Line of Least Resistance off the album. If you like the song Challenger of their Challenger ep you'll probably be disappointed. To me I felt as if the album was to dull and just couldn't get into it. I liked Bens new vocal style, but it just didn't work with the album to me and I felt as if it wasn't as cyber, industrial, or spacey like Antares was which got me into this band.

Sybreed is one of my favorite band. I found in them many elements that i search when looking to a strong outfit. Sybreed is groovy, catchy, technical, great composers, fun and original.For me God is an Automaton is a great album, but not their best work to date. The reason why is because their is songs on it that for me lack greatness and are too average. Songs that I highlight are: 1) Red Nova Ignition for it's structure, various tempo, it's deathmetal feel. 2) Into the Blackest Light for it's heavyness and blackmetal feel. 3) Hightech Vs. Lowlife because it's different from their catalog. 4) No Wisdom Brings Solace for it's catchy chorus. The other songs lack originality, fun and catchyness. The Line of Least Resistance is good but the chorus don't fit that much in the song even in the album. Destruction and Bliss have potential, start really well but got too long and boring from the middle. Posthuman Manifesto, Downfall inc. and A Radiant Daybreak are just ok.Overall, Ben the signer is solid and add some black/death feel to it's growls that bring something new on this record. The production is good, but maybe with a little to much bass in the mix. Use of death/black vibes are welcome. On the other side, they could have use more variety in the guitar tone. Guitar riffs are not that much addictive or groovy as it were on their past releases (aka. Slave Desing). The album is too homogenous. But, hey! It's still good material from one of my fav band. I just hope that on teir next record they will create a masterpiece with just highlights tunes that will surprise me by bringing more new elements on the table without compromise the Sybreed recipe.

awesome new album - good songs and good writing. I do however wish that their guitar player would go back to his old sound - the new sound is not that great - doesn't sound as crunchy.

Great album! Also the CD was in perfect condition and it got to me pretty quickly.

As someone who's been listening to Sybreed since Slave Design, "God is an Automaton" strikes me as having lost some intensity. I vastly prefer the heaviness of Slave Design and Pulse of Awakening, and would place this album on equal footing with Antares. Even "Challenger", a song I really liked when released as a standalone EP, has been changed for this album, and for the worse. I look forward to their next release.

彼らの最終作であり、最も陰鬱で工業的な雰囲気が漂う作品前作の時点でちょっと物足りなかったメロディが更に希薄化してる　本当にあの名作Antaresを排出したバンドと同一なのだろうか...と思えるぐらい　正直なところ、凡庸なダークウェーブ系に申し訳程度のクリーンをつけたって印象がしますまぁ#3The Line of Least Resistanceはかなり良いですね　過去の名曲達にも比肩しうる　後は～、、、#1#2がまぁ聴けなくもないってぐらい　それから#8ChallengerはEPの方が断然良い　こっちのVer.だと微妙少なくとも#3だけは強く推薦します　単曲でも売ってるみたいなので、特にファンでもなければそれで良いと思います

Excellent album!Le nouvel opus de Sybreed casse la baraque.Si vous ne connaissez pas encore ce groupe, voici l'occasion de faire une super découverte!!

The package: the cd comes just in your basic jewel case in a card slipcase. I imagine this will be a limited slipcase like on the previous albums. the artwork looks great and the booklet is well packed with lyrics, pictures and art.The album: i'm a big fan of the band and love their first 2 albums (Slave Design and Antares) but i felt a little underwhelmed with their 3rd album (The Pulse of Awakening). I found it overly mellow and melodic compared to their more aggressive/technical approach on the previous albums. God Is An Automaton (spelt incorrectly on Amazon) jumps straight back into their old style and pushes it a little further. The electronics have a much more symphonic approach in some songs, others they arent heard very much and others they add more a background noise while the guitars and drums take a much more prominant position again. The vocals are also not so 'in your face' this time around and have been worked on to suit the music better, ranging from aggressive to melodic to the occasional growl/deep vocal segment on one song.Overall, this is the album i've waiting from this band since Anatres. it's fast, sharp, technical and ultimately a Sybreed album. fans of the band wont be disappointed.

Hier gibts wahrlich nicht viel zu sagen und noch viel weniger auszusetzen! Die Band klingt so frisch wie eh und je. Besonders Benjamins Stimme ist ungemein stark auf diesem Album. Es gibt keinen einzigen Durchhänger und das bei einer Spielzeit von ziemlich genau einer Stunde! Jeder Song kann absolut überzeugen: Wahnsinns- Industrial Gitarren und -Härte mit dem gewohnten Elektronikeinschlag, hammernd begleitende Drums und Basslines und die Sybreed-artigen hymnischen/harten Vocalparts.Conclusio:Absolute Kaufempfehlung! Wer vielleicht als Industrialmetalfan vom neuen FF-Album etwas enttäuscht war, für den ist "God Is An Automaton" hingegen sicher ein gefundenes Fressen!

This album is like Fear factory's older albums but more modern and I think slightly less machine like a bit more human and with more bass. I think it is as good as fear factory with its cyber keyboard bleeps and bloops and REally heavy guitar riffs that chugg and drums that bash and crash it is really good and worth every penny
