With this set, I don't have those issues (knock on wood).The case has a battery component which recharges the buds when you are not using them. It takes some getting use to, to see which side is left and right, but after awhile you get it.By the time I remove the headphones and put them in my ear, they are connected! and reliably. Works better than an external microphone. We use one ear bud at a time, then when it runs low, we switch to the other bud.
