I like the solid shaft more since it is more sturdy which makes it easier to remove the knobs to tighten down your pots or clean the guitar body. I may even buy another pot so I can rewire my second tone with a solid shaft and use the other knob. By the way, a jewelers/glasses screwdriver will make installing the knob much easier. I don't have all my tools in my apartment and managed to tighten it enough with a pocket knife but it'd be ideal to have a small screwdriver (flat head). Review: They look great. - Just redid my Precision bass with gold hardware, These replaced the old off white volume and tone. I think I can remember which is which with out the labeling.
